Meet Dr. Deb Ford

For 50 years, I’ve had one passion: helping people discover how powerful nutrition and lifestyle can be in changing the way they feel.

I opened The Good Earth Health Food Shoppe in Northwest Ohio in 1976, long before “functional medicine” was a familiar term. What began as a love of natural health has grown into a lifelong career of combining the best of modern science with the wisdom of natural medicine.

Today, I’m a Doctor of Clinical Nutrition, Registered and Licensed Dietitian, FMCP and FMACP, with a master’s degree in human nutrition, training in traditional naturopathic medicine, and certification as an ACE Personal Trainer.

But credentials are only part of the story.

I know what it feels like to want answers—not simply another prescription or a temporary fix. My own health journey strengthened my belief that we need to look at the whole person and ask why symptoms are occurring in the first place.

That’s how I work with my clients. Together, we look at labs, nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, hormones, gut health, metabolic health and lifestyle to create a personalized plan designed to help the body function at its best.

I’m also endlessly curious. I love studying longevity, Blue Zones, Mediterranean living, traditional healing practices and the latest research in functional nutrition. When I’m not working, you may find me running, preparing Mediterranean food, traveling to Italy, spending time with my grandkids or Irish Setter—or learning something new that I can bring back to my clients.

I also host Today’s Nutrition, my weekly radio show and podcast, where I make the latest nutrition and natural-health research practical and understandable.

After five decades in this field, my mission is still remarkably simple:

Help people understand their bodies, uncover the root causes holding them back, and give them practical tools to live healthier, stronger and more vibrant lives.
