Calmer Kids

It’s back-to-school season! And while some parents might be counting the days (can I get an “amen”?), let’s be honest: this time of year can be stressful, especially for our kids.

New routines, new teachers, social challenges, academic pressure, sports schedules, and of course—screens everywhere. It’s a lot for a developing brain and nervous system. Today, I want to talk about the real challenges our kids are facing, what’s happening under the surface, and what you can do right now to help your kids feel calm, focused, and emotionally resilient.

I’ll even tease a fantastic natural option from Terry Naturally called Calm Kids, which I’ll dive into fully in next week’s episode.

Magnesium Matters

Today, we’re diving into magnesium — one of my all-time favorite minerals.
In fact, I call it the master mineral because it’s involved in over 300 enzymatic processes in the body. That’s everything from muscle relaxation and nerve transmission to blood sugar regulation, energy production, and detoxification.

And yet — most people are deficient.

Not because we aren’t eating enough magnesium-rich foods like leafy greens, nuts, seeds, and legumes, but also because our soils are depleted, our stress levels are high, and many of us take medications that deplete magnesium even further — like proton pump inhibitors, diuretics, and birth control pills.

But here’s the kicker.
Even when people do take magnesium supplements, they often don’t feel better — because they’re taking the wrong kind.
